Creating meaningful change is at the heart of everything we do. At WV, our mission is to foster lasting impact through purposeful travel experiences that connect students with communities across the globe. Our approach centers around two key pillars – student impact and community impact.
Student Impact Shaping Tomorrow’s Changemakers
Travel is an incredible opportunity of learning, and each WV trip is a journey of transformation. Our programs are immersive, educational, and intentionally crafted to promote reflection and growth. Students engage in meaningful service while learning about local culture, responsible travel, and sustainable living. They return home with deeper empathy, a sense of global awareness, and renewed gratitude. Feedback consistently highlights improved teamwork, mindfulness, and a strong desire to continue making a difference. Many discover that fulfillment doesn’t come from screens, but from connection – with people, nature, and purpose.
WV trips challenge students to think beyond themselves, embrace new perspectives, and contribute meaningfully. The personal growth they experience lasts far beyond the trip – it’s the foundation for a lifetime of thoughtful, compassionate global citizenship.
Community Impact Partnering For Lasting Change
At WV, projects are built as working partnerships. Our collaborations are shaped through ongoing conversations to understand local priorities and shape projects that are realistic, relevant, and useful on the ground.
Communities provide direction, context, and local knowledge, while participants contribute time, skills, and energy within clearly defined roles. The result is an exchange where communities gain added capacity and/or resources, and participants gain first-hand experience working in unfamiliar environments, gaining insight into complex and challenging problems.
With more than 15 years of experience, we’ve learned that meaningful outcomes come from careful planning, clear communication, and consistency in programming. Projects may involve hands-on collaboration or other forms of local support, but they are always designed to fit within existing structures rather than disrupt them.
We’re proud of the work our students do, not because it promises sweeping change, but because it reflects a thoughtful, respectful approach – one that benefits communities while offering participants a challenging, practical, and rewarding experience.
